Description:
Known for highly imaginative dance theater and multi-disciplinary works, Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Company presents an anniversary concert celebrating 30 years of dance making in Philadelphia. The program features the premiere of Anywhere/The Big 30, a major work with video and live music for sax, cello, and drums created in collaboration with video artist (and longtime collaborator) Carmelia Vassor-Johnson and composer Adam Vidiksis. Using 30 as a departure point, the work explores memory, hope, redemption, and the relationship between the individual and the community, while taking a playful view of the number: 30 moves, 30 seconds, 30 objects, 30 places in space.
The program also features reimagined works from repertory that highlight founding member/dancer Joseph Cicala—who will retire after 30 years and this concert—including Salt, The Keepers' Project and select Company films.
Anne-Marie Mulgrew and Dancers Company are supported in part by The Philadelphia Cultural Fund and Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
