Description:
Efraín Amaya’s new chamber opera, Constellations, premieres this December in concert performances. The libretto by Susana Amundaraín was inspired by the work and life of Spanish painter Joan Miró, who was passionate about his roots, transcended his nationality, and found a unique freedom through his work. Not strictly biographical, the story draws from the painter's flight, with his family, to the North of France just before WWII. Featuring Racquel Winnica-Young, mezzo-soprano; Sarah Shafer, soprano; and Dan Kempson, baritone; with lighting design by Scott Nelson.
This performance is made possible by American Composers Forum, VAEA: The Venezuelan American Endowment for the Arts, and Tanner Film & Art.
