Description:

come. I say come, and return to the fight.
this fight for the earth
this fight for our children
this fight for our life
we need your hurricane voices
we need your sacred hands

-an excerpt from “For Sweet Honey and the Rock” by Sonia Sanchez

Long-time activists and friends – poet Sonia Sanchez, musician Bernice Johnson Reagon, and folk/blues artist Toshi Reagon – perform on stage together for the first time. They will lead a stirring night of conversation, music and poetry.

All three women have committed their lives to creating social change through art. What does it mean to be a female artist involved in social action? What lessons have our mothers passed down and what can our children teach? These questions and more will be pondered and pursued through the unique voices of Sonia, Bernice, and Toshi.
