Flying Bulldog Productions is here for the month of October preparing for the world premiere of their musical, IN MY BODY, on stage at Prince Theater, November 10-13 (preview on November 9).
IN MY BODY IS
Groaning, bitching, laughing, exploring, revealing TRUTHS through...
SONG, SPOKEN WORD, MOVEMENT, ART.
COVERING and UNCOVERING gender identity, infertility, bullying, pride, aging, obesity, trauma, self-loathing, disability, passion, sexuality, love, and so much more.
CHALLENGING ALL OF US TO embrace who we are and open our hearts to others.
About The Show
Through song, spoken word, movement, and photographic images, the characters reveal true-life physical and emotional body stories. The goal of IN MY BODY is to inspire an important collective conversation about finding home in our bodies and about accepting, respecting, and perhaps even loving ourselves and others. IN MY BODY is based on a nonprofit, collaborative multi-arts project conceived in Philadelphia in 2010. The project included an exhibition of Leah Macdonald’s encaustic photographs, a body image workshop and roundtable, two performances at Painted Bride Art Center and numerous interviews, all of which provided the raw material for the songs and spoken word pieces in the new musical. A staged reading of IN MY BODY was held at Christ Church Neighborhood House in January 2014. Excerpts from the show were performed at the 2014 National Undergraduate Conference on Body Image at Cabrini College in October 2014. In May 2015, a five-day workshop was held at The Arden Theater’s Hamilton Family Arts Center, directed by Kathryn Macmillan, who is also directing the premiere of the show at Prince Theater in November.
