A whisper in the woods. A light through the trees. We enter the forest to find spirits and shadows, trails and pathways, light and dark, the best and worst of ourselves. Once in, we find a clearing.

Pack a picnic basket and blanket and join Philly’s own Birds on a Wire in this BYOB (Bring Your Own picnic Blanket/Basket) journey into the woods. Inspired by the literary traditions of fairy tales and coming-of-age stories, from Charles Perrault to Angela Carter, In the Clearing immerses the audience in an imaginative world transformed by scenic designer Kevin Jordan, costume designer Ixchel Mendez, lighting designer Michael Lambui, and sound designer Cory Neale.  Follow along as Kate Abernethy, Crystal Nicole, Vanessa Erin Gross, Kathy Kerner, Claire Lutz, Brianne Scott, and Molly Woytowicz bring to life the magical forces at work deep in the woods. 

Additional festivities include a woods-themed craft market at 7pm on Friday September 9th and a family-friendly matinee on Saturday, September 10th at 1pm.  Children attend the matinee free and are invited to explore the scenery and join the cast for a dance session following the performance.
