Description:
In Transit celebrates four years of intense and gratifying training by Muhlenberg College's graduating dancers and alumni. This entirely student choreographed, produced, and managed performance serves as a lively culmination of the group's undergraduate experiences and acts as a stepping stone toward active participation in the professional arts community.
Each work displays the innovative styles and dynamic ideologies fostered through Muhlenberg’s dance department, recently ranked sixth in the U.S. by the The Princeton Review. A soloist examines the interplay between ballet and aerial trapeze, while another builds a world through structured improvisation. A trio and a quartet of modern dancers explore the evolution of relationships, working with intricate gestural movement. Performers of one duet fuse dance, theater, and speech to examine social/cultural relationships; a jazzy tap number follows the emotional rollercoaster of friendship.
For the past several months, Muhlenberg's graduating dancers have collaborated on every aspect of creating a performance, from searching for venues and fundraising opportunities to building works and technically producing the show. Their work culminates in three Senior Showcase showings at Muhlenberg, 100 Grand Dance (Soho, NY), and here at Neighborhood House.
