Shir Singing Circle formed in 2014, bringing together leading Jewish musicians and spiritual leaders from the Philadelphia area. Their mission is to create intimate, joyous, spontaneous, and participatory musical happenings by fusing sacred Jewish chants with folk, spirituals with funk, improvisational jams with uplifting harmonies. Shir Singing Circle is unaffiliated and represents a wide spectrum of Jewish practice and belief. Events are hands- and voices-on, loosely sketched with an openness for the unexpected and designed to engage musicians and non-musicians alike.
